Appointments & Services

  • No, we do not accept walk-ins, but we do accept same-day appointments.

You can book online for acupuncture and massage appointments up to two hours before the start time. All workshops and events require advance booking unless otherwise specified.

  • Absolutely not! Our services, including treatments, workshops, and classes, are available to everyone, regardless of income or insurance coverage. We will never ask you to disclose your income status.

Most services are offered on a sliding scale, allowing you to choose what you can afford. Your financial contribution is entirely up to you.

  • Due to our sliding scale pricing, we no longer provide direct billing services. You can submit a claim yourself, as you would any other health claim if your benefits plan covers the treatment. Gua sha and ear seeds are both manual therapies that fall under the scope of practice of acupuncturists in Alberta and are billed as such. Therefore, insurance plans that cover acupuncture should cover these treatments when performed by our Registered Acupuncturist. However, you may wish to confirm with your insurance provider before your treatment.

  • Click the “Book Appointment” button above to be directed to our booking site. For more information on upcoming events, visit our “Blog” page.

Treatment Info

Treatment Options

  • Rather than a one-on-one treatment in a private room, you'll sit in a larger room with others receiving treatment at the same time. This keeps the cost lower than private treatment.
The atmosphere is similar to a group yoga or meditation class, allowing people to experience the benefits of healing in a quiet group setting.

  • Cost & Frequency

    • Acupuncture works best with multiple, regular treatments. The lower cost of community acupuncture makes regular treatments more accessible and affordable.

    Acupuncture with Friends & Family

    • You can receive acupuncture at the same time as a friend or family member and travel to appointments together.

    Comfort & Healing

    • Community acupuncture provides a space for people to come together to relax and heal. For many, this space provides a sense of safety, comfort, and eases social isolation.

  • Yes, community acupuncture uses many of the same points as private acupuncture and can address all body systems. It is successfully and effectively practiced worldwide.

  • Acupuncture is quite gentle! Our acupuncturist uses a consent-led, trauma-informed approach and will always make sure you're comfortable as we go.
It's normal to feel a slight pinching sensation, a heavy or achy feeling, or nothing at all. These sensations usually fade after a few minutes.

Note: We offer no-needle treatments like non-invasive ear seed therapy, gua sha, and massage if you do not want needles.

  • Ear seed therapy is a needle-free alternative to acupuncture. Small seeds from the vaccaria plant are applied to specific acupuncture points on each ear using hypoallergenic surgical tape. The seeds remain in place for about 5-7 days and can be easily peeled off and discarded afterward. This therapy is beneficial for pain, anxiety, sleep issues, digestion, and more, but it is not recommended during pregnancy.

  • Gua Sha (pronounced "gwah shaw" or "gwah saw") is a manual technique from Traditional Chinese Medicine, similar to cupping, but it uses a dull-edged tool to scrape the skin. This technique can help loosen muscles or fascial adhesions, relieve muscle tension, and enhance circulation to the tissues. It may also boost immune function.

We offer neck and upper back treatments that effectively target neck, shoulder, and back tension, headaches, migraines, and immune support.

During pregnancy, you can still receive Gua Sha therapy; however, the acupuncturist will avoid certain areas, such as the tops of the shoulders.

  • Our massage therapist offers 60 minute therapeutic massage treatments.

  • Yes, everyone aged 12 and up is welcome! Your health history and any relevant information will be reviewed to tailor treatment to your specific needs and conditions.

During pregnancy, we do not recommend ear seeds. However, you can still receive acupuncture, Gua Sha, and massage, with special adjustments made by the practitioner.

  • Yes we do for community acupuncture! Book a free 15-minute consultation. This is a no obligation opportunity to see the space, meet the acupuncturist, ask any questions and discuss a treatment plan.

  • Acupuncture: We mostly use acupuncture points on the ears, head, lower arms, and lower legs.

It's best to wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that can be rolled up to your elbows and knees. There’s no need to undress during community acupuncture; simply remove your socks and roll up your sleeves and pant legs.

Gua Sha: We will treat the neck, shoulders and upper back only.

Wear a tank top or sports bra, or other clothing that allows easy access to the upper back and shoulders. Bring a scarf to protect your neck from cold weather when you leave.

  • It depends. Many factors can affect treatment time, including the type and severity of the condition, how long it has been present, and other health and lifestyle considerations.

Most conditions benefit from a series of regular treatments, such as one treatment per week for 4-8 weeks. This may be followed by a few spaced-out treatments (i.e., once per month) to help maintain results.

Your practitioner will assess you during your first visit and create a treatment plan that works for you.

  • You will meet with your treatment provider in a private office before the treatment to discuss any confidential health information.

A late cancellation, late arrival, or missed appointment creates a gap in our schedule that could have accommodated another client and can cause delays for others. To help us maintain a smooth flow, we request at least 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment.

To cancel your appointment, please contact us at info@renhealthcollective.com.
